I’ve never been shy on ideas, in fact they tend to come all too often. I’ve even managed to bring a few of them to life. I’ve also left more than my fair share of carcasses along the way. Some of these projects were abandoned intentionally, but if we’re being honest, many fell flat because of my own shortcomings.
The point of this site is and likely always will be iterative self improvement. It’s been about making better choices, making more intentional choices and, well, actually making things because of what you choose. It’s also been an attempt to overcome my crap in public, sharing with you what has worked and what hasn’t. It’s been about getting better at taking ideas and turning them into actual things. It’s about getting over those shortcomings and doing something better.
I’ve spent the past two years talking about better ways to do things; I’ve been doing some of my own things better. I still have a ways to go, but now I want to get something big and scary done. I want to bring an idea to life that is likely beyond my skill and ability. I want to do this and I want to do it well. I want to give the idea the justice it deserves. I want to see what I’ve really learned, so I’m going to take everything I’ve discovered over the past few years, everything I’ve been sharing here on the site and put it to use. I’m going to make mistakes, so many it’s impossible to fathom, and I’m going to do my best to learn from them. And I’m going to ask you to follow along and welcome you to offer any insights you might have along the way.
I’m no entrepreneur, I’m no founder, I don’t entirely know what I’m doing. I’m just a guy with an idea that won’t go away and it’s clearly going to haunt me if I don’t do right by it. I might fail; in fact, I probably will, but I can assure you of this: I will fail spectacularly. And regardless of how things go, I’m going to do it publicly for both your entertainment and (hopefully) your education. So you’re going to want to follow along as I try to take this imaginary thing inside my head and make it an actual thing in the world. It might not work, but the attempt will be well worth watching.
So stay tuned and watch this space as a guy with a somewhat spotty track record and not nearly enough relationships with developers, authors and creators tries to help improve the way that apps, ebooks and digital products are introduced.
